Hi!

Welcome to my blog, where I share everything I find interesting and places I enjoyed exploring.

New Year, New York

New Year, New York

I keep hearing about how 2018 is the year of manifestations. It's been said everything that we've been working towards in 2016 and 2017 will come to fruition this year. Uh oh, did I prepare for this? One of the reasons why I started this blog was because I felt like I couldn't really decipher where my true passion was. I've always prided myself in being well rounded, but maybe I've made myself too well rounded, spread my interest over too many categories, and I no longer can see which one was really mine, and not just me trying to relate to everyone. I watched my best friend find her passion of being a stand-up comedian, I see my other friend really get into photography and then there's me...I'm really good at being an office manager, I like to take photos, I really enjoy fitness but I also LOVE donuts...oh my gosh, where is my life going? What am I meant to do!? Am I doomed to live a passionless life!?

All this chatter came to a halt at the end of last year, I received an additional title to my job, PR & Marketing. For over a year and a half, I'd run the Instagram for my work and increased the follower count from 8k to 33k. My photos had been reposted by other accounts and for two years in a row, we had become one of the top Instagramed locations in the United States. Getting this new title, not only made me feel like my work had been recognized, but that, without even knowing it, I was working towards a passion.

So here we are, my job booked me a trip to New York to visit the Corporate Office so I can train and learn more about my new position. Flying somewhere new, meeting new teammates really helped me put momentum into this year. No more "This will get handle eventually" mindset, we're doing this here and now. New York is a perfect city to get really excited about being productive, I don't know what it is. You just feel like there's more hours in the day there, maybe because you're not wasting 2 hours of your day stuck in LA traffic. You can zip from one part of the city to another by hopping on a subway. It's amazing what you can cram into a day. I'd wake up and get ready, walk around for an hour before work and try a new juice spot (you can take the girl out of LA, but the girl still needs juice), and then I'd go to work. After work, I'd walk around the city for hours, find somewhere to eat, and then find my way back to the hotel only to do it all over again.

I can't wait to see what this year brings, I haven't felt this excitement about a new year for a long time. With the recognition of what I've done with social media for my work, I hope maybe I can replicate the same with my personal, but if not...it's fine. I do this for me. I always imagine myself at 80 reading these words and imagine what my future self thinks will think about the current self.

Let's kick 2018 in the butt!
